		Professor Ross Coppel is a Professor of the department of Microbiology at Monash University and a former Howard Hughes Fellow in Infectious Diseases. He is an internationally recognised authority in molecular biology and genetic engineering as applied to infectious diseases and primary biliary cirrhosis. His work in bioinformatics led to the establishment of the Victorian Bioinformatics Consortium (VBC). Professor Coppel is also the VBC Director.
