| Professor Rod Devenish is Deputy Director of the Research Graduate School and Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Monash University. In October 2008 he also became the Centre’s Deputy Director. Rod has an international reputation in yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) molecular cell biology with research that has focused principally on aspects of mitochondrial biogenesis, in particular the structure and function of ATP synthase. | ||||
| More recently he has developed a new research area of autophagy focussing on the turnover of organelles, particularly mitochondria, in yeast. In collaboration with Centre colleagues he is investigating the interaction of host cell autophagy with bacterial pathogens. | ||||
