		Professor James Whisstock is a protein crystallographer and bioinformatician in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Monash University. He has particular expertise in proteases and their inhibitors and in the structural biology of bacterial virulence factors. In 2006, he was awarded the Science Minister’s prize for Life Scientist of the year.
