		Professor James Whisstock is a biochemist in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Monash University. He has particular expertise in structural biology and bioinformatics. His research focus includes proteases and their inhibitors as well as bacterial virulence factors.
		He was the recipient of the 2006 Science Minister’s prize for Life Scientist of the year and the 2008 Commonwealth Health Minister’s Award for Excellence in Health and Medical Research. In 2008 he was awarded an ARC Federation Fellowship.
