		Research areas Nikolaos Sotirellis is a protein purification scientist at the Monash University Protein Production Unit or PPU. The PPU a service-based unit principally involved in the expression and purification of recombinant proteins from a wide variety of laboratories within Monash University and also from a variety of other research institutions around Australia. He is the principal operator of AKTAxpress, the high-throughput chromatography system for the large-scale parallel purification of recombinant proteins. He is involved in a number of projects within the ARC Centre including the pathogenesis of Pasteurellosis and the analysis of Leptospira antigens, and the generation of large amounts of purified proteins for X-ray crystallization trials.
