Research areas
Dr Quinsey is the Manager of the Monash University Protein Production Unit or PPU. This unit is principally involved in the expression and purification of recombinant proteins from a wide variety of laboratories both from within Monash and also from a variety of other research institutions within Australia. We are a service-based unit that is available to members of the Centre for the large-scale parallel purification of recombinant proteins. The unit also specializes in the establishment of optimal protein expression conditions using a variety of high throughput techniques using E.coli cells as the expression vehicle.

Noelene’s interests include the development of high throughput methods to determine the best expression conditions for recombinant proteins and the development of novel expression systems that increases the solubility and expression levels of a variety of recombinant proteins. Noelene is involved in a number of projects within the Centre including the pathogenesis of Pasteurellosis and the analysis of Leptospira antigens, and the generation of large amounts of purified proteins for X-ray crystallization trials.
