David examines the phagocytosis of particles by macrophage cells. In particular, his project studies the endosomal interactions with the phagosome, focussing on lipid signalling molecules and their cellular control. The impact of this regulation on the phagocytosis and survival of mycobacteria, such as the causative pathogen in human tuberculosis is of particular interest in this project.
